Residents of Sironko District Raise Alarm Over Insecurity
Residents of Zesui, Namaguli, and Busulani sub-counties in Sironko District have voiced their concerns about the understaffing of Bumumulo Police Post, which they blame for increasing insecurity in the area
Speaking during a security meeting held at Zesui Sub-County, Rogers Wangoda, the clan chairperson of Buwanajewa and Assistant Agriculture Officer for Zesui and Namaguli sub-counties, highlighted rising insecurity issues that have left locals worried
He cited incidents involving local youth engaging in criminal activities such as drug abuse, theft, destruction of crops, and harming animals in cruel ways, such as piercing them with sticks
Robert Nabumbo, the LC1 chairperson of Buwanajewa Village Zesui Sub-County, pointed out that insecurity is especially severe in villages
During the meeting, Julius Wasukila, the LC3 chairperson of Zesui Sub-County, named some of the suspects allegedly involved in these crimes as Wasukila urged police to apprehend the suspects to restore peace in the area
Responding to these concerns, Edward Magombe, the Officer in Charge (OC) of Bumumulo Police Post, acknowledged the understaffing issue
He informed residents that he had already raised the matter with the District Police Commander (DPC), who promised to deploy five additional officers by the end of the year
Magombe also urged local council leaders to establish security committees to help the police combat crime in the community #CityfmNewsUpdates
