Museveni Eulogizes Late MP Ignatius Besisira

President Yoweri Museveni has eulogised the late Ignatius Besisira, the former Buyaga County Member of Parliament in Kagadi district describing him as a true patriot, peace maker and a unifier. 

Besisira died on Sunday last week from Platinum hospital in Kampala at the age of 69. 

The president’s message was delivered by the vice President Jesca Alupo to mourners who had gathered at the deceased’s ancestral home at Gayaza cell, Pacwa town council in Kagadi district during his send off on Friday.   

In the message, the President explained that Besisira was a nationalist who promoted peace and togetherness not only in Bunyoro sub region but the entire country.

Museveni said death has robbed Bunyoro and the entire nation of a dedicated, peace promoter, resourceful and hardworking citizen. 

He challenged mourners to emulate the good deeds of the late Besisira stating that, his dedicated services to the country will always be remembered.

Robinah Nabbanja, the prime minister said Bunyoro has lost a peace promoter and problem solver who served the country diligently. 

Raphael Magyezi, the Minister of local government hailed Besisira as a corrupt-free leader tasking the government to recognise him as one of the heroes of this country. 

Matia Kasaija, the Minister of Finance, planning and economic development said the country  has lost a pan Africanist and wise leader elaborating that, he played a critical role in unifying the people of Bunyoro sub region.

Stephen Twesige Rulekere,  Besisira’s son applauded President Museveni and the government for granting their father a state burial.

Besisira’s political career began in 1991 when he became the district councilor for Kiryanga Sub County, after Kibaale had been curved out of Hoima District.    

He later served as the district speaker from 1998 to 2000, before winning the Buyaga County parliamentary seat in 2001.

At the time of his death, Besisira was a member of the Local Government Finance Commission.
