Nakaseke Police Investigate Suspected Arson Attack

Police in Nakaseke District have initiated an investigation into a suspected arson attack on a farm in Butibulongo village, Katale Kammese Parish, Kito Sub-County. The raid occurred on Sunday at around 2:00 AM, targeting the farm owned by an individual named Mayinja.

According to Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, initial reports suggest that an unidentified group armed with machetes and sticks invaded the farm, assaulting workers who were asleep in their tents. The attackers inflicted serious injuries on several individuals, prompting the workers to flee the scene.

The assailants went on to set fire to four makeshift tents and four vehicles, including a Canter Elf (Registration Number UAM 252Q) and a Pajero (Reg. No. UAS 044J). Additionally, a tractor was burned beyond recognition, along with a bulldozer that had no visible number plates. The intruders also looted an unspecified quantity of fuel and other valuable items from the camp.

Upon receiving a report at around 4:00 AM, the police quickly responded and arrived at the scene. Twiineamazima confirmed that a case of arson and malicious damage to property has been filed. 

The injured individuals were transported to a hospital for treatment. The police are currently conducting a manhunt for the suspects involved in this incident. Twiineamazima states that the motive behind the attack remains unclear, but investigations are ongoing.
