Police Struggle to Recover Two Bodies from River Nile
James Shilaku, Resident District Commissioner of Oyam, who heads the district security committee, confirmed that search efforts on Monday were unsuccessful.

The search for the bodies of two women who drowned in River Nile has entered its second day. The victims, identified as Molly Adong and Vicky Ruth Abero, are all residents of Te-tochi village.
They were among six passengers crossing the river in a canoe from Te-tochi landing site in Kamdindi Sub County to Awoo landing site, Kiryandongo District on Sunday.
Lawrence Odoc, the LCI Chairperson of Te-Techi village, said that the boat they were in capsized and four men survived while two women drowned.
James Shilaku, Resident District Commissioner of Oyam, says that the search efforts on Monday were unsuccessful due to the strong waves of the river.
He urged travellers using water transport between Oyam and Kiryandongo to always implement passenger manifests to aid tracking in case of accidents.Â
Nommy Otyeno, LCV Councillor of Kamdini Sub County and Oyam District Speaker, attributed frequent water accidents to a lack of alternative livelihoods for people relying on fishing, especially after the construction of Karuma Hydro Power Dam.
