Police Training Officer Arrested for Shooting 25-Year-Old Man Dead
Sperito Bainomugisha, the Aswa East Regional Police Training Officer, was arrested after he reportedly shot Christopher Opoka, 25, on Saturday at Apollo Ground Cell, Central Division, Kitgum Municipality.
The Police in Aswa East Region have arrested one of their own for shooting and killing a 25-year-old man in Kitgum Municipality.
Sperito Bainomugisha, the Aswa East Regional Police Training Officer, was arrested after he reportedly shot Christopher Opoka, 25, on Saturday at Apollo Ground Cell, Central Division, Kitgum Municipality.
Joe Oloya, the Aswa East Regional Public Relations Officer, said that upon interrogation, Bainomugisha said that the deceased and others attacked him while he was on his way home from a nightclub.
According to Oloya, the suspect says that he shot Opoka in self-defence. He added that the police are still conducting a thorough investigation into the incident before the file will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution for further advice and perusal.
