Fake Doctor Arrested in Tororo General Hospital

According to Albert Amula, the Tororo Deputy Resident District Commissioner, the suspect, identified as Job Obbo, a resident of Mirikit Sub County in Tororo District, was apprehended on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 at the hospital.
Tororo Central Police Station is currently holding a man on charges of impersonating a doctor, conducting illegal treatments, and extorting money from patients at Tororo General Hospital.
According to Albert Amula, the Tororo Deputy Resident District Commissioner, the suspect, identified as Job Obbo, a resident of Mirikit Sub County in Tororo District, was apprehended on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 at the hospital.
Amula explained that the suspect was arrested after a caregiver gave him money to purchase a surgical blade for an operation where he demanded 15,000 Shillings. He noted that the suspect will be tried in the courts of law on charges of impersonation and other related offenses.
“The charges against him include impersonation and extorting money from patients,” stated Amula. He further added, “When police finish their investigation, the suspect will be presented before the courts of law.”
Dominic Okech, an eyewitness who was assisting his cousin at the hospital where the arrest occurred, narrated that the incident came to light when the impersonator solicited money to buy a surgical blade for an operation on his sister, who was to undergo a cesarean section.
He recounted that on Tuesday morning, the suspect, dressed in doctor’s attire, arrived at the hospital near the operating theater, masquerading as new staff and taking advantage of the patient who was to undergo the operation. Hours later, the security team arrived at the hospital, apprehended the suspect, and detained him.
